View to the Northwest from Scotts Bluff National Monument
A long line of empty railroad coal cars sit on the westbound tracks waiting to continue into Wyoming to the coal fields from Scotts Bluff, Nebraska. The North Platte river can be seen flowing east beside the tracks. Large gullies of eroded grasslands can be seen which forced the Oregon Trail to be moved south the the pass from its path alongside the river. Farms stretch north and west across the former Nebraska plains.
