Oriental honey buzzard or Crested honey buzzard (Pernis ptilorhynchus) is a bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal raptors like harriers, kites and eagles. Despite the name it is not related to buzzards (Buteo), and is taxonomically closer to kites. It has a long tail and a short head crest. It appears long-necked with a small head and soars on flat wings. The bird is a specialist feeder, living mainly on the larvae of social wasps and bees and eating bits of comb and honey. It also takes other small insects such as cicadas.
