Maxillaria lineolata or flame orchid with blurred background

Maxillaria lineolata is a species of orchid native to Mexico and Central America. This small to medium sized orchid releases a pheromone that, along with the shape of its flower, tricks male bees into thinking its flowers are female bees that are ready to mate. In the process of trying to couple with the flower, the bees pollinate the flower.
