The town is in the Middle Atlas on the road between Fez (FÃ¨s) and MeknÃ¨s via Ifrane, at an altitude of 1300 metres, dominating the SaÃ¯s plain. The modern town of Immouzer was built in the early years of the French Protectorate in Morocco (1920s) as a resort and agricultural centre. It incorporates the Kasbah des Ait Seghrouchen with earth-sheltered houses built into the ground and surface irrigation channels
