Turnera ulmifolia L. is the root or whole grass of the clock flower family, an evergreen shrub or semi shrub. The plant height is about 60-90cm, with alternate leaves that are long ovate, with teeth at the edges, and a pair of obvious glands at the base of the leaves The flowers bloom at the leaf axils at the end of the branches, with a golden crown and 5 petals. The flowering period is in spring and summer, and the fruiting period is in summer and autumn. Turnera ulmifolia L. opens in the morning and closes at night in a regular manner, hence its name "Clock Flower".
