Iris tectorum Maxim. is a perennial herbaceous plant in the family Iridaceae and genus Iris. It is native to China and has been introduced to Italy, Japan, and North Korea.Roots and stems are thick and robust The flower is blue purple, with the upper end swollen into a trumpet shape, and the outer flower is covered with round or wide oval lobes Leaves basal, yellow green, slightly curved, in a broad sword shape Capsule long elliptical or obovate Seeds black brown, pear shaped Flowering period from April to May The fruiting period is from June to August. Iris is named after its petals that resemble the tail of a kite bird.
