Sunrise on the Mont Cenis hill alpine pass from France to Italy

Pass of the Moncenisio hill (2083 meters above sea level - in French Col du Mont Cenis) is the Alpine pass that separates the Cottian Alps from the Graian Alps, located between Italy and France, uniting the Val di Susa, in the metropolitan city of Turin, with the region of Haute Moriana, included in the French department of Savoie. It gives its name to the Mont Cenis Alps and to the Mont Cenis state road 25. This territory was historically Savoyard before the annexation of the Duchy of Savoy to France in 1860 but has always been disputed by the powerful Abbey of Novalesa first and by the diocese of Turin and diocese of Susa then, as well as by the village of Ferrera Cenisio for the control of the pass and exploitation of the woods and pastures.
