When Estelle Sloss, also known as Bella, married Ernest Lilienthal, her father, Louis Sloss presented them with a very fine wedding present of this Italianate style house, built for them in 1876. Sloss himself was a Bavarian immigrant who first settled in Kentucky, in 1845. On hearing news of the Gold Rush he left for Nevada City, California. Louis did very well himself, and had a larger, nicer house near by, and enjoyed having his family near by. As seen 24 May 2024.
