Anatomy of chloroplast
Chloroplasts are typically lens-shaped or oval organelles surrounded by a double membrane. Inside the chloroplast, there are multiple membrane-bound compartments, including the thylakoid membrane system, stroma, and grana. The thylakoid membranes contain chlorophyll and other pigments that capture light energy during photosynthesis.
