Pictured is an adult African bush elephant standing near the edge of the Chobe River in Chobe National Park in Botswana, Africa. It was photographed from a boat based at the Chobe Game Lodge. Elephants are herbivorous and will eat as much as 660 pounds of leaves, twigs, fruit, bark, grass and roots a day. In addition they drink around eleven gallons of water a day. The binomial name is Loxodonta africana.
