Pictured is one African bush elephant standing on the beach and one drinking from the edge of the Chobe River in Chobe National Park in Botswana, Africa. Elephants drink around eleven gallons of water a day and the herd visits this beach often. Elephants are herbivorous and will eat as much as six-hundred sixty pounds of leaves, twigs, fruit, bark, grass and roots a day. The binomial name is Loxodonta africana. The elephants were photographed from the Chobe River on a safari boat from the historic Chobe Game Lodge.
