Pictured is an African bush elephant calf standing drinking water near the edge of the Chobe River in Chobe National Park in Botswana, Africa. Elephants are herbivorous and will eat as much as 660 pounds of leaves, twigs, fruit, bark, grass and roots a day. In addition they drink around eleven gallons of water a day. The binomial name is Loxodonta africana. The elephant was photographed from the Chobe River on a safari boat from the historic Chobe Game Lodge.
