Texture of a Dendrite

Â CrystalÂ dendriteÂ is aÂ crystalÂ that develops with a typical multi-branching form, resembling aÂ fractal. The name comes from theÂ Ancient GreekÂ wordÂ ???????Â (dÃ©ndron), which means "tree", since the crystal's structure resembles that of a tree. These crystals can be synthesised by using aÂ supercooledÂ pure liquid, however they are also quite common in nature. The most common crystals in nature exhibit dendritic growth areÂ snowflakesÂ andÂ frostÂ on windows, but manyÂ mineralsÂ andÂ metalsÂ can also be found in dendritic structures. The first dendritic patterns were discovered inÂ palaeontologyÂ and are often mistaken forÂ fossilsÂ because of their appearance.
