Silky shark showing curiosity to a diver, Galapagos Islands
These sharks often display curiosity towards divers and will approach closely. They are however, like most sharks, most of the time, totally harmless to humans. Like most other shark species they are brutally slaughtered for their fins for the markets of China and SE Asia for shark fin soup.
