The S.S. Charcot is but one of three vessels stranded in the same vicinity. The Southern Foam and the Sukha rest underwater, directly behind it. These former whaling ships were once anchored in Conception Harbour. The Charcot severed its mooring amidst a 1968 storm and subsequently ran aground. The destiny of the other two ships remains somewhat ambiguous.
