Chernyakhovsk (before 1946 — Insterburg, German. Insterburg is a city in the Kaliningrad region of Russia, the administrative center of the Chernyakhovsky district (municipal district).It was founded in 1336. The name Insterburg is based on the river Kitsch, at the mouth of which it is located, and it. burg — "fortress, castle". It was renamed in 1946 in honor of Army General I. D. Chernyakhovsky, who commanded the troops of the front and died on the territory of East Prussia.
