Gasteracantha hasselti, commonly known as the Hasselt's spiny spider, is a small, brightly colored orb-weaver spider. It is easily recognized by its distinctive, hardened, spiny abdomen, usually yellow or white with black spines. The spider is found across Southeast Asia and is often seen in gardens or forests, weaving orb-shaped webs. Though its appearance may seem intimidating, Gasteracantha hasselti is harmless to humans. Its unique shape and colors help deter predators and make it one of the more visually striking species of spiders in its habitat.
