Beautiful architecture in the old town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen
Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a German ski resort town in Bavaria, formed by the merger of two towns in 1935. It is a popular destination for skiing and ice skating, as well as hiking. The town is close to the Zugspitze, Germany's highest peak, which at 2,962 m can be reached by cogwheel railway and cable car. The Garmisch area is the most fashionable, while the cobbled streets of Partenkirchen retain a traditional Bavarian feel.
