Clunie House NOPA San Francisco 13

Built in 1897 for Thomas Jefferson Clunie, a real estate speculator and lawyer, when this area of what was to become the North Of Panhandle Area of the Haight Ashbury of San Francisco, and still mostly sand dunes, Clunie went to no limit with expenses to even having a telephone installed. This beautiful Queen Ann style is one of only a few left in the city, all the more amazing considering it survived the Earthquake and fire of 1906, the area drug culture, then various owners. Since 2002 it has been owned by Westmont College of Santa Barbara, for students housing while studying in San Francisco.
