Santiago de Chile

Santiago de Chile is the capital and primate city of Chile. The metropolitan area is part of the Capital Region (RegiÃÂ³n Metropolitana), in addition to the province of Santiago includes other five provinces. In urban settlement area (ÃÂ¡rea urbana) live 5,392,395 people throughout the RegiÃÂ³n Metropolitana there are 6,061,185 (2002 census). This means that around 40 percent of all Chileans live in the capital or in its immediate vicinity.
