Stapelia Orbea variegata alongside its seeds

This plant is known as Stapelia (Orbea) variegata. It is a clump-forming stem succulent that originates from South Africa. The flowers emit a foul odour like rotting carrion to attract blow flies as pollinators. This explains their popular name of carrion flower or carrior cactus. This plant is also know as star flower or toad cactus. This photo shows the pod and the seeds that were released from it. The plant is kept indoors so there is no wind to take the seeds away.
