River crab at burrow in Crete
Potamon potamios, an East Mediterranean partially terrestrial river crab clearing its burrow of mud on Crete. The species is found in isolated freshwater habitats in the Aegean and from Turkey to Egypt. It is listed as near threatened due to habitat destruction.
