Haweswater reservoir, English Lake District, National Park, Valley of Mardale, County Cumberia. In 1929, the English parliament passed an act to build the Haweswater reservoir to supply water for Manchester. The populated farming villages of Measand and Mardale Green were flooded when the reservoir was constructed. At the time, many people were against the construction of reservoir as the area was considered as one of the most picturesque areas.
