A photograph showing a simple method used along coastal mangrove seaside to help in the rebuilding of mangrove forest. Rows of wooden stakes are driven into the bottom of the beach and protrudes above the sea water. These wood stakes help to decrease the wave strength coming in during high tide, and yet allow seawater to pass through. The gentler waves motion help the mangrove tree seedlings to re-establish along the shoreline where they are growing, and prevent them from being swept away by the waves. Important ecological issue theme image, relating to coast tsunami incidents. Location is Sungei Buloh Nature Wetlands Reserve, Singapore, Kranji, southeast asia.
