View from Eira do Serrado Madeira Portugal looking south towards Funchal. This is bus and coach station on top of a windy and very narrow road . The view to the north is of Curral das Freiras is a civil parish in the municipality of CÃÂ¢mara de Lobos in the Portuguese archipelago of Madeira. The population in 2011 was 2,001,[2] in an area of 25.03 kmÃÂ².[3] It is situated in the mountainous interior of the island. Being one of the more distant locations from the municipal seat of CÃÂ¢mara de Lobos, it is geographically isolated from other communities by the cliffs and peaks surrounding its central valley. A tunnel southwards in the direction of Funchal now offers safe access to the valley.
