Amer town has historic importance. It is spread in a small area of 4square kilometres only and is surrounded by aravali range of mountains. Initially the town was built by meenas but latter around late 15th century it was ruled by king swai jai singh and he built amer fort in the same town. subterranean ways connect to the nearby fort jaighar fort.
