Kazan Amvrosievsky deserts (informal title at the shamordino convent ââ¬â stauropegic women's convent of the Russian Orthodox Church, situated near the woods of shamordino Kaluzhskaya oblast, 12 km to the North of Optina. This is one of the famous Russian monasteries, distinguished by its architecture. It is Kazan Cathedral, which boasts the largest collection of embroidered beaded icons, created by the nuns of the monastery.
