Happy North American Yellow Shafted Flicker - Colaptes auratus - on the woodland floor in spring hunting for grubs in the ground. A woodpecker by name, this bird does little pecking of wood, instead preferring to peck and flick the earth as it hunts, perhaps earning it it`s nickname.
