Tragopogon Pratensis is a member of the Aster family. This wildflower blooms late spring to last summer. The floral array is a single terminal flower on a long stalk. The flower heads are up to two and a half inches wide with fertile yellow ray florets with fringed tips. The anthems of the five stamens are black. Frequently seen on roadsides, ditches and other untended patches of ground they grow in slightly moist to dry conditions and prefer full sun.
