Kathesimbu Stupa also known as Sigal stupa.

This is a wonderful small stupa which is a copy of the Swayambunath stupa. It`s in a small square surrounded by shops sellig tourist stuff t-shirts, pictures and Buddhist ritual things prayer flags, incense as well as a school interesting to see some children improvise a game of football around the stupa and monastery which was not open to visitors when I was there. There is a cafe in one corner of the aquare which sells very good tea at 10 rupees - a bargain!nnDespite these surroundings it remains a peaceful place and circumambulating the stupa is a reflective activity and so is drinking tea while people watching. It is in cntrast with the much busier Durbar Square which is nearby. nnKathesimbu is easy to find: head south down Thamel Marg to Thahity Chowk and leave this square at the opposite corner and it`s down an alley a short distance on the right.
